The Medicpet Virtual First Aid for Groomers Zoom Class is a interactive training session created specifically around the situations pet groomers may encounter in their day-to-day work.

 

Presented live online by Naomi Conroy, qualified Veterinary Nurse, Master Pet Aesthetician and International Certified Master Groomer, this zoom session combines first aid knowledge with practical skills you can apply within the grooming environment.

Whether you are a salon owner, mobile groomer, home-based groomer or part of a grooming team, this workshop is an opportunity to build your first aid knowledge and confidence.

What You'll Learn

The workshop focuses on first aid situations particularly relevant to professional pet groomers, including:

Vital Signs
Understanding normal, abnormal and emergency vital signs and how to perform a basic physical assessment.

Collapse & CPR
DRABC, recognising an emergency and the principles of CPR.

Bleeding, Cuts & Wounds
Bleeding management, wound care and bandaging techniques.

Grooming-Related Injuries
Clipper burn, brush burn, nicked nail blood vessels and accidental scissor injuries.

Eye Emergencies
Chemical and shampoo irritation, hair in the eye and recognising serious eye emergencies including a prolapsed eyeball.

Ear Problems & Injuries
Aural haematomas, ear wounds and recognising signs that may indicate an ear problem requiring veterinary attention.

Heat Stress
Recognising the signs of heat stress and understanding the immediate first aid response.

Seizures
What to do when a dog experiences a seizure in your care and when veterinary attention is required.

Skin & Parasites
Recognising common skin lesions and conditions groomers may encounter, including flea allergy dermatitis, ringworm, ticks and cutaneous papillomas.

Safe Emergency Handling
Practical considerations when handling an injured or distressed animal, including making an emergency muzzle using a slip lead when appropriate.

Your Grooming Salon First Aid Kit
What groomers should have available and how common first aid supplies may be used.

And more situations relevant to the professional grooming environment.

 

Practical Learning – From Home

Your practical training kit and stethoscope are posted directly to you, allowing you to follow along with demonstrations and practise key skills during the live virtual workshop.

You'll learn how to perform basic physical assessments, check vital signs, use your stethoscope and work through practical first aid techniques alongside the education.

 

Final Knowledge Quiz & Certificate

At the end of your training, you'll complete a short online knowledge quiz covering key information from the workshop.

Participants who complete the workshop and successfully complete the final quiz will receive a Certificate of Completion.
